SUMMER CAMP

'Take Your Faith to the Edge - Living With Jesus'

Summer has come and gone, and we now find ourselves at the end of a successful season of Summer Camp.  We at Pilgrim Pines encourage all campers, staff and volunteers to go forth in life, remember your summer and reflect on your time spent here.  Remember the joy and energy from opening campfire Sunday night, the spiritual experience of vespers and the many special nights we all spent watching the sun set over the mountain.  Remember your Friday afternoon Mini water palooza, trip to Johnny's with the Juniors, the community you built with Jr. High, high ropes with Sr. High, and the Pinester dance for the Seedlings, Pinecones and Pinesters.  Forget not the friendships that you formed this summer, and continue them throughout the year.  We thank you for a wonderful summer spent together and look forward to seeing you once again next summer!

Mini Camp
(Grades 1 - 3)

Mini Land is a special place where campers entering 1st through 3rd grade stay and play at Pilgrim Pines.  Minis get to swim, hike to see Smokey the Bear at the Ranger Station, do crafts, eat a s’more at campfires, and create their own Vespers service with help from the Pastor at Camp and Music Director.  Minis must work hard to keep Mini Land clean so that ‘Gremmie” will visit and bring special notes of friendship and play.

Junior Camp
(Grades 3 - 6)

Junior Camp is the biggest camp around!  Pilgrim Pines can host up to 50 Juniors, entering 4th through 6th grade, in their very own camp.  Our Juniors get to start the day with an early morning Polar Bear Dip.  They collect beads to commemorate hikes, dances, learning about environmental justice, the talent show, Vespers service, dressing up for the Theme Dinner and many more challenging and fun camp experiences!

Jr. High Camp
(Grades 7 & 8)

Jr. Highers can build the signature Pilgrim Pines Community by forming long-lasting relationships with other campers.  They learn how to express themselves and form personal and unique opinions on what faith and justice mean to them.  Those entering 7th and 8th grade are able to brave some of the toughest rites of passage at Pilgrim Pines!  Campers hike, climb the 40 foot wall, participate in the low ropes course, sleep out under the stars, and sing and dance at campfires.

Sr. High Camp
(Grades 9 - 2010 Graduate)

Sr. Highers are free to be themselves, participate in small group discussion times, swim, hike, act in the talent show, relax with other campers their age and are encouraged to take initiative in camp activities, leadership and worship.  Those entering 9th through 12th grades or just graduating high school are the only age group able to select a camp week to fit their fancy.

Week 1 : Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) Week (Sr. High)

Youth aged 16 and 17 attending C.I.T. week will receive valuable training in Behavior Management, Team-building Leadership, CPR and First Aid, and gain a confidence boost enabling them to stand up and take charge of a cabin full of campers!  Youth who complete this weeklong program will receive a certificate of completion and be able to come back for a different week of camp to co-counsel, along with two Pilgrim Pines staff, in our Mini, Junior or Pinester programs.

Week 4 : Creative Expressions (Sr. High)

Sr. High, lets you get your creative juices flowing! Week 4 includes everything in the Sr. High Camp description and MORE!  The week is facilitated by talented staff that encourage expression and learning through the arts—drama, poetry, music, dance, visual art and more!

Week 5 : Conference Youth Ministries Camp (CYMC) (Sr. High)

A program for UCC Sr. High campers planned and facilitated by the Southern California Nevada Conference Youth Roundtable.  This program is a special camp for UCC members, with many aspects facilitated by their peers.  It will have its own theme, a service project and will include all the things that make camp so great, including a few unique opportunities like a walk down to the Regional Water Park for a day of fun in the sun.
